Launch the Microsoft Office Excel program. Click on the Office ORB icon or the FILE menu on the ribbon and click on Options. When the Excel Options window opens, click on the Advanced tab from the left menu. Scroll down here and check the box next to Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) in the General section and click OK. If it comes out, there will be no more problems when opening Excel files in the future.

For Windows 8 or later, click on More Options and click on the Look for another app on this PC option. Now go to the C:/Program Files/Microsoft Office/Office folder. Now select the Excel.exe file for the Excel file with the .xlsx extension. Select the winword.exe file for the Word file with the .docx extension. Now, check the box next to Always use this application for this file type and click OK to open the file without any problems.
